the 26 bertram is my favorite hull, but with a 10 1/2 beam, its not too trailerble. When I was in Yamaha school, one of the guys there owned a 26 that he made a center console out of. He had a full tower, bottom paint, with a single 225 Opti on a bracket. he said it would run 36 mph and sip fuel. I called bs till i started doing somer reasearch. i found a factory boat house bulliten put out by merc that had a 79(?) 26 Bertram hardtop with a pair of 2.0 150's on the transom. The boat would run somewhere around 55 mph. Figure the 150's were rated at the flywheel, probably put out around 135 at the prop, total of 270 hp. Take this guys single 225 Opti, they are underated and usually put out closer to 250 at the prop, about 300 lbs less weight on the transom and his numbers match up pretty good. I rode in a 26 with a pair of 4.3 mercruisers (220 hp) and I saw 58 on the gps with light fuel, but with a soft top and short tower. I would love to have one of these in the express layout(like my V) with a bracket and a pair of modern 115-150s on the back. But you can forget about trailering any distance
