Wow, that is some serious damage. I heard it was very difficult to get gasoline since so many stations were without power. So, even those with generators have no power because they cannot get fuel to run them.

Fortunately I can drive 15 minutes and be in an area thtt had virtually no icing and get gas. Folks further north are not so lucky. This will make me rethink storing the boat with an empty tank.
I won't be testing my insurance but a big concern around here is ground water. Sump pumps are the norm. We had a lot of rain with the ice and if your basement floods you normally are not covered. If your roof leaks or a pipe breaks then insurance pays, if the water seeps in then you are on your own. The linemen from Delmarva were woking in conjunction with a tree service crew from Ohio. It must make for a long ride in those trucks. |

same thing down here, if a hurricane hits and your roof blows off and your house get rained it, home owners covers it, if the wall of water hits your house, flood insurance kicks in.

I have been watching all that on the news, that was a bad one!!
Here in Wareham just this side of the canal was all rain, we got 3.98" I also work in Eastham and the same all rain! I was a bit worried as the Gov. put us in a state of emergency and I can't leave my job when that happens, and had to wait for my supervisor to get the all clear to let me go. I hate winter!! Never know when we going to get stuck at work for who knows how long!

Good grief!!!
Makes me think of hurricane Ivan and Katrina....lost power for 11 days at my house during Katrina and about 5 for Ivan. I cant imagine snow and ice doing that much damage! How do yall stay warm without power? Dont yall use some type of heating method other than central HVAC up north? All we have is central....I have a fireplace in my living room but central is enough to keep any house in the south warm no colder than it gets. What kinda high/low temps are yall having?
