it was Rick's boat I was thinking about. here is a pic from his gallery. I think he made the boxes, and bought the seats.

Thanks, Yensen. I think that is exactly what I am going to go with. I will probably make the bottoms out of starboard. I think I will fashion the bases so that water in the cockpit can drain through the base (i.e. no bottom on the base). I will then look into hinging the seats so I can pull them up and store stuff beneath the seat that can get wet. I think I will not fasten these down permanently, but rather, go with a friction fit and maybe a strap/snap or two. That way I can just pull them out when not needed.
