I towed a WELLCRAFT 248 with twin 225's on the back and 200 gallons of fuel on board with a JEEP CHEROKEE! And I had no problems at the ramp with it, it was just that pesky braking problem on the road. Any of the half tons will be more than capable, or even alot of the 1/4 tons will do it as well. The RANGERS were never really up to the task of towing much, but the S-10's(not the current COLORADO's), DAKOTA's, and even the heavier TACOMAS can do it.

I agree with Ferm and all of the above. My Dakota has the 318 and she tows awesome. As Ferm said perfectly, stopping can be a problem if the trailer has no brakes(like mine), but as long as you are careful & alert you wont have problems.

Ferm, I did the same thing... I towed the 248 that I sold to Skool's which had a bracket and twin 200's on it with a JEEP LIBERTY!!! No problem. The thing is, I only had to drive a couple blocks to the ramp. That said, I would never have towed on any major road or highway. Stopping would certainly be an issue.

So, I also agree with all that has been said, and especially Willy's comments about the importance of brakes and wheel base if you plan to tow further than I do...

By the way, I now tow with an 06 Durango 4.7L magnum V8. I towed from FL to MD and could barely tell I had anything behind me...
