I've had a pleasure in my life that it is unlikely my kids are going to have, I have owned Chevy trucks, Ford trucks and the use of one Dodge truck years ago that belonged to the guy I shared an apartment with when I got out of the army. Currently (and probably for a long time to come) own a F250 Super Duty which has been great.
I have also owned a Nissan 4x4 PU and a Toyota 4x4 Tacoma TRD that was a joy(especially off road) Loved them all. But driving an American built pickemup is a great pleasure period. And a hot chick driving one is one of the most beautiful of all of Gods creations:D:D

The 350 was used up until 04 I believe in some van's for specific use, 2000 in the regular HD's, 98 in the 1500 trucks, 99 in the TAHOE/SUBURBAN, and up until 03/04 in the solid front axle HD set-up's like the U-HAUL trucks. The 6.0 is an updated 350 in a sense. They share many bottem end designs, but they use the cylinder head design that GM came up with for NASCAR and drag racing back in the mid 90's. They use the splayed valve styling with the equally spaced runners. It helped to even out the cylinder balance. GM is known for getting a design and just updating it, not wiping the slate clean and starting over.

BTW, I have a 1978 Vette with a 350/190hp that only get 12mpg and a 1997 Silverado that gets 18/21mpg. All this new stuff that I can't work is more efficient. |

that 6.0 is a great motor, I would love to put one in my '72. But for what it cost to get it to work, I'll stick with what I got. Hot Rod magazine just did an article on a 6.0 build up, they made a bunch of power, but it cost$$$$$$

Would it be feasible to drop a 6.0 crate motor in my 5.3 Suburban? I have the Castech heads and did have a leak which sealed up with Bars Leaks but I gotta think I lost some engine life.

. It's a bit different compared to the grunt that the old 350 could produce, but does have some good power. On one of the forums I go to they compared the 6.0 to the old 454, and the only downside to the 6.0 that was talked about was that it was a higher RPM engine. It takes some getting used to for the different RPM range, but it sure is a stout little V8.

BTW, I know several people that have bought 06, 07 and 08 Duramax with reviews from "mileage not what they were led to believe" to "best vehicle I've ever owned". Of course if one pays 50k+ for a vehicle, it's hard to objectively evaluate it. Even a used one is out of my price and/or need range. |
