I Replaced It With A Stainless Stell Piece And The Rod Too W/ Stainless Steel Rod,. I Used A Piece Of Foam (air Conditioner Conduct Cover) To Cover The Rod For Protection. In The Upper Cleat I Re-glassed The Inside With A Think Piece Of Wood And Backed It With A Piece Of Thick Aluminum.
Also, If You Have Heavy Oxidation, Like It Shows In The Picture, You Can Use Muriatic Acid (be Carefull, Use Eye Protection And Gloves) To Remove That Oxidation. Lesterus |

One thing I noticed in the picture is that the bow eye is not connectec to the cleat on top of the deck, and it should be conected with a threaded rod (pref. stainless steel rod) there is a piece available on stainless steel that allows you to conNecT both. If you're ever need to lift your boat by the cleat you'll be sorry if they're not connected. Besides, if the cleat is not connected, any heavy seas or anybody going too fast when you're mooring could yank it off the deck.

It's Very Easy To Replace, Still You Can Use The Piece That They Sell In Ss.
Like I Said, If You Use Muriatic Acid It Will Clean The Rust. Question: How Is Your Cleat (or Cleats) Secure To The Deck ? Or The Bow Pulpit, Because That Rod Will Take The Load Off The Deck When You're Anchored. Lesterus |
