Default Re: she's ALIVE!!

I've had crystalized salt deposits (or maybe sand, who knows?) stop up the pisser right where the water comes out. I took a small piece of wire and pushed it out - good as new.

This happened the day after I had replaced my impeller. I took the lower unit off twice to check my work and it still wouldn't pee. That's when I decided to run wire down the tell tell. Once I did that - good as new!

Then I had another motor that had the dirt dobbers in it!

I just hope you are not taking your lower unit off for no reason. They aren't fun to be taking off and putting back on all the time.

How long did you let it run? The reason I ask is on those Johnson 140's I had (Skools has em now ;)) it takes a while for the water cooling chamber to fill up before it'll pee. I was concerned after one had ran 30 seconds and still no pee. Come to find out that was normal.

Also, on these Mercury's don't forget what BigShrimpin said about the poppet valves. It takes more time for a Mercury to pee than other brands!

Good luck!
