Hello ladies and gents. New member from Virginia here. I just picked up my new toy so I thought I'd join the forum and share it. I picked up a 1979 V20 CC. It's got a 200hp Merc on the back. I'm still waiting to find something shocking to explain why I got the deal I did. For some reason I can't upload any pics. I'll try when I get home on wifi.

Anyways it was advertised as a good solid boat needing a motor. Did not come with a trailer as its been kept on a rack in a boatel for 20 years. You'll see from the pics when I upload them I had to look past the lipstick on the old girl. It was a lime green hull with purple lettering and "graphics" all over it. The motor cowl is purple, fishing rod boxes...purple, T-top canvas...purple, seats...purple. Well you get the gist. The guy likes purple, hell he had a purple shirt on.

I'm sure anyone from the HR area knows the boat I speak of and may have inquired as it was a nerve racking fight to buy it. He had guys trying to buy it out from under me as I was making the 1-1/2 hour trip to get it.

I'm glad I was the chosen one. She truly is a Hens tooth find. There is not a stitch of moisture anywhere. Transoms solid, floor rock hard, stringers solid. I had a buddy come over and give it a grueling inspection and he found nothing structurally wrong. He asked what the deal was with the motor. I was told it ran just not good and it was suspect to be blown. He looked it over, did a comp. test and said let's fire it up. As he was starting it he noticed the overheat alarm wire unplugged. He plugged it in and fired it up and she sounds beast. However no water pumped. He suspects the water pump went, overheated and the owner unplugged the alarm. He believes unplugging the alarm may also kill 3 cylinders to prevent people from making a habit of it. Then maybe the guy thought he blew it up???

Who knows but she runs great, sounds awesome and seems to just need a water pump. Quickly I removed the purple decals which surprisingly toned down the green. My quick plans are water pump and delete the rest of the purple. Not that I hate purple but it's not a good color to pair with lime green. I believe I'll call her Barney even after its painted.

So I'll try to get pics soon as I can and please give me opinions or suggestions you may have.
