Default last fluke of the season. . . . . . . . .

so you guys know I live on a sandbar. we have a rec center right down the block from me. it's right on the bay. skating rink, indoor pool, sports fields, dog park, skate park, playground, boat ramp and fishing pier. so my 11 year old is always fishing at the pier. tonight my wife has kickball and he rides his skateboard to the pier. 10 minutes later he runs in the house, tells me there are bass crashing bait at the pier and proceeds to tie a rubber eel on an 8 foot, 20 pound setup.
so we jump in the car and shoot down to the pier and sure enough, there are some nice little 5-6 pound bass chasing snappers and spearing. so he tosses the eel in front of a fat little bass and lets it sink. BOOM! he gets a hit and it starts peeling off line. wasn't long, about 30 seconds, he brings it up and the dam thing's brown. yup. a nice fat fluke. must have been a good 5 pounds. way over keeper size. so I tell him to bring me the rod tip, i'm gonna leader him up and over. get him a foot or two out of the water and flip, he's gone. no big deal. some of his fishing buddies saw the whole thing and he is now the only one they know who ever caught a fluke on a rubber eel at night. he was a little disappointed but happy. couldn't hook the bass but who cares. he got the last fluke of the season.
