Broken Skeg

My friend has a 90 HP Merc.
Somehow

(dumb move that I won't explain)

the skeg got broken off.
Everything is fine, no oil leaks or other damage,
just a pretty clean break.
I know it is cast, but can it be reconnected by brazing or welding?
