Engine Advice
Ok... here's the deal. I have a 1991 200hp Johnson VRO. It was professionally rebuilt and installed in 2001. Since then it's had very low hours on it.. (less than 150). It runs sweet and will push the V to 50-55 GPS without breaking a sweat.
I also have a 200 hp Merc that's sitting on a boat that I'm going to part out and bring to a trash transfer place for it's final rest. The Merc is also a sweet running motor. I got it used and have no idea of the hours on it, but I've never had any problems with it other than a bad heat sensor. My question(s) are: Is the Johnson a good motor? Would it be advisable to swap it out for the Merc? Should I sell both of them and buy a Yamaha? Whatever the answer, how do I convince my wife it's a good idea?
