Default Murrells Inlet SC Fishing Report 10/3 & 10/4

Me and Flyfishin fished inshore this weekend with good results. Got bait (finger mullet) first thing and proceeded to the inlet to set up. It was on as soon as the first line went in with Fly proclaiming the "hot hand" right before the big spanish pulled off just shy of the net. Note to fishermen: do not celebrate too early. [8D] Continued to liveline the FM and could not keep the rods from bending. Managed 2 big spaniards, and 2 healthy blues at that spot with a BIG mystery fish. This mystery fish beat all I had ever seen. My rod went off and I was having fun reeling in a 2 - 3 lb blue which ended up tangling in Fly's 2nd rod in the holder. He broke off about 20 feet off the stern, but at that EXACT moment Fly's rod (the line he tangled) bent over. We were laughing because we thought this blue had simply went from one rod to the other and we hoped the knotted line would hold him long enough to land. It became apparent about 5 minutes into it that the fish Fly had on was NOT the blue as there was some serious bend and the fish was giving Fly a run for his money taking more line than he could gain. Another 5 minutes and Fly had him on top, slowly gaining what the fish had taken when three dudes in a boat come 25 yards off our stern at about 8 knots, and run right over the fish. We hollered, pointed, jumped up and down to no avail. They looked at us, kept going same speed, threw their hands up in the air?? kept going as line was wrapped in their prop and just rode off into the sunrise. I don't know about you, but if it were me I'd #1, pop it into neutral if I saw someone jumping up and down and pointing like that and #2 at least check the prop if I KNEW I'd just run somebody over. GEEZ! Fly had some choice words for them as he retied. After that the bite fizzled out so we went after the sheepshead. Managed 4 sheeps from 2 to 4 lbs and a 5lb blue (released). Fly also hooked and fought a nice black drum right to the side of the boat before he spit the hook.... Next, decided to troll down the beach toward Surfside for spanish, then trout once there. Caught 10 spanish on the way there with a couple throw backs before switching to trout. Hooked only one trout which pulled off after a short tussle. At that point we decided to troll back to MI, picking up more spaniards on the way, a few keepers and a few throwbacks.
Our final tally for day 1 was 13 keeper spanish, 4 sheeps, and kept 2 blues.
Day 2 we fished from 7:30 am until 11:30 am and managed 3 sheeps from 2 - 5 lbs, trolled for 15 minutes with 2 keeper spanish before heading in.

On the way out:

One of Fly's nice spanish

One of Fly's nice Sheepshead

Me and an immigrant

Fly bowed up 5 min. before being cut off.

Released these 2 (top one was shark bait)

Released him
