I agree with offering the $6k, but I would not hesitate to go to the $7k. I always find real peace of mind when purchasing something used when you know the history and know it has been maintained right. The garage kept thing is really nice, and the low hours on the motor are a real plus.
As far as the transom goes, I have read many of the posts which say to stand on the motor with it tilted up a bit and see if you can feel any flexing.
