Rubber membrane, tin or aluminum?
Then it don't really matter, I've not actually done the work, only witnessed it. The Goodyear membrane was about the same as patching a bicycle tube when you was a kid but some people will place a patch beneath and over the tear. The membrane material is sometimes hard to find, usually from a commercial/industrial roofer. I have seen aluminum holes and tears patched with pop rivets and sealed with 5200. I know this is not much help.
