Yeah, I checked around again and I think it is the size of the box thing. If it was just 35 lbs., shipping would be a reasonable $27 and some change. However, with the size of the box (and I agree with your estimates of box size), there is a formula you go through (LxHxW/194) which equals about 127. UPS charges you the greater of the actual weight (35 lbs.) or the "density" of 127 lbs =$143. Kind of BS, I think, because the box is really not all that big or heavy.
