Sending unit
On my 87 the sending unit was a magnetic round disc that screwed onto the top of the tank mounted part. Like a cup shaped area, as the float went up and down in the tank the magnet moved on the sending unit which was connected to the guage..
I took of the magnetic part and cleaned the bottom and the cup shaped area, cleaned the connections and was back in business..
Is there an access hatch or port over the connections?
I'll try to take a picture of the setup later for you..
Not sure if you have the same kind of setup or not...
