Here are some old NOAA maps of the location showing the normal bars and stuff.
Coming from Ft McAllister downstream to Hells Gate.  Hells Gate and the bars at Delegal and Adams Creek.  This is Little Wassaw/Pine Island, Ossabaw Sound and Adams Creek to Odingsell River.  This is the bar at the mouth of Odingsell.
