You sure the cloud isn't scuff marks from the previous sanding?
Some of the strippers will create an etching effect, harm certain materials and generally looked sanded once stripped and cleaned.
I've been using Strypeeze, water sanding with sponge blocks and buffing with coarse compound.
(well, anyway...got to get back to it)
