Default Useful Tip

I am not able to contribute much in the way of boat knowledge but I wanted to share something useful.

To make your razor blade last longer, dry it off after each use.

I used to put in a new razor blade and get one or two nice shaves out of it and then it sucked. Since I have been drying the blades after each use, the blades last for months without dulling.

Apparently when you leave the blade wet, small particles of rust form right on the point of the blade, drying prevents this.

I heard this on the radio about a year ago and have cut my razorblade consumption considerably. They suggested using a blow dryer, but since I dont use one, I simply shake out the excess water, then CAREFULLY (we are talking about the sharp part) dry with a towel.

You smart guys have probably been doing this for years, but I thought I'd put it up.

Also, they figured a way to prevent rusting years ago but would be too costly for the bottom line to actually put out a better product :-/

Consumers always get screwed! Light bulbs tick me off. You know they can make them last longer....
