Not rich, not poor, just well off and comfortable at those prices.
Owning an older home, I have gotten many a quote on repairs and remodeling. After the wife sees the quote, she agrees to let me do the work (because I can), but it takes me a long time because of regular job interuptions, like business trips. Doing the work myself saves the labor charges, but materials will kill ya. So far, I have found that cement work supplies, seams to be the most reasonably priced. My dad worked in construction and taught me a lot. I went to school to become an electrician, but never followed through.

I know brother...I do work on the side and understand what you are saying. I do smaller scale jobs, but I understand nonetheless. 8)

well, the guy asked me how much i would build the deck for and i told him. this is the price we agreed on. everybody always says how that if they found a sack of money on side the rode they would turn it in. well, its a different story when you got a sack of money in ur hands.
i did a fence for a fema trailer park few months back. i was a sub. when i was finished i was told that i would have to wait 30 days for my money. not what contract says but, what could i do? 30 days i found out that the contractor had screwed everything up. none of his pipe passed the tv test. he had already been paid by the government and split town. i never got a dime. 48g's i was owed. 24 of em out my own pocket for materials. i mean i had every dime i had, plus 2g's i borrowed from my mom tied up in that job. i aint ever been a thief or a lier (bullsh!tting dont count) and i have always done what i think is right whether it cost me financialy or it landed me in jail. only consolation is the phrase 'what goes around, comes around'. well, ya know what? I'M DUE! |
