Capt Bent . . . have you replaced the seals on the drive. Check the gasket/seal under the base of the water pump.

I gotta side with MJ, once an I/O starts casusing you problems, it never seems to end. My gig started when I had to replace risers and manifolds, thats when I noticed that the stringers were wet, pulled the motor and on and on from there. I finally had enough and got a new boat with an outboard.

Everyone has there own way of thinking. Its Just mine is better then there's ;D
No really you have to work with what you have. If you don't have the cash then you have to keep mit going how ever you can. But I/O is a never ending project, right from new!! There always seems to be something going wrong, for what ever reason?? Yea they are cheaper to replace, to get parts for (sometimes) and they are cheaper on gas. So if your time means nothing to you, and you love to play with stuff rather then fish then a I/O is for you. I have been there done that!! I like being on the water more and fixing less! OB are more moiney up front. The newer ones are great on gas!! and 10, 15, 20 years from now when it dies, you just undo a few bolts, and you are ready to hang the next one for the next 10 years.
