I'm very close to repowering my boat . When I remove the old motor I would like to replace the aluminum cap on the transom . It is severly pitted and I'm concerned that water may get into the transom. I have seen on some new boats vinyl material that is be used instead of alum . Does anyone know where I can buy this stuff ?

labii...if you don't glass it, look in Lowe's...I was in there the other day and saw a long white plastic cap...didn't measure opening width, but think it will cap a transom...cap is part of a deck-drainage system so it's pretty tough and almost gotta be UV resistant...it was beside roofing materials where the gutter-guard kinda stuff was...I'm pretty sure it'll make a nice transom cap...if my motor was comin' off anytime soon, I'd get that alum. KREPTD off, too...wish I had seen this stuff when hangin' the Honda... ;)...
