Hi guys and girls first have a happy thanksgiving Now for my question I have a 150 1988 Mercury what I want to do is premix the oil with gas and do away with my injection system Can't I just mix the oil with gas and leave all the stuff alone What I'm saying is just ad the oil to gas and forget about the oil tank and all the other stuff mounted to my engine? I know that's not what your supposed to do but can I ? Thanks for any info

1) your alarm will constantly sound 2) your oil injection will still work and inject oil into your premixed gas, changing the ratio from 50:1 to something like 25:1 which will foul your plugs, carbon your rings, etc. 3) it will smoke like a ba$tard 3) I'm sure there are other things I've forgotten, but that pretty much covers it. So no, you have to disconnect the unit. It's really not hard. I'll send you the steps to do it. SpareParts sent them to me ages ago when I converted my 1991 Merc and I've kept them on hand since then.

Destroyer, I'm not very mechanical And for some reason I have a hard time disconnecting and altering things on my outboard , I don't know why I did do some work lower unit oil , putting in some parts on the engine , do you think it's hard to follow his instructions for bypassing the oil system ? I hope I can do it cause that's a problem I'm having with the motor , It's loading up with oil sometimes making it hard to start so if I remove that system Then Problem solved I will wait for your response Thanks destroyer

PS It really help if you have a shop manual with schematics and blueprints so you know where the various parts on your engine are. They are amazingly simple machines. As long as you don't have to tear apart an engine block everything else is pretty much right out in the open.
