The green isn't bad looking now that you pulled the decals off. Good luck with the boat.

Looks like a great deal. I think with the cowlings back to black, it will tone it down a lot. Unless your planing on standing up there, I'd keep the canvas t top. Had a friend with a 20 dusky that we put a glass top on with a belly ring for cobia fishing. Great for site fishing, but made it much more tippy.

I'd like to have a spot for a cobia spotter but it won't be me as I'm 6'5" 300lbs. Gonna talk more to the guy about what my best bet would be for someone to be able to stand up there.

It is stainless. Just thinking a more updated look. Definitely not neccesary but I can probably get it done for about $100 so may just go for it.

Swapped cowlings today and the less purple that's on it the more the green grows on me. Haven't got the wife's opinion on that yet. That will really let me know what color she will end up.

I also got the new water pump in and in checking the plug wire condition 2 of them came apart so soon as I get those she'll be ready for a test run. Curious to see how this motor runs in the water.

I love the green. I agree that the purple is not working, but I dig the green. She looks clean as hell. Congrats.

The cap is not as good as the pics make it look but it all looks original and it's impressive for a 37 year old boat. The green paint has a beautiful finish other than some scuffs.

I just got mine ('84 cuddy) a couple months ago and the cap was looking pretty bad. I used 3M imperial marine compound and a makita buffer and it made a really big difference. Not new, but like you, I paid less for my boat/motor/trailer than I should have paid for the motor alone. My iphone pics dont tell the story at all, so I dont even want to post them. But, I was surprised.

Also - a little off topic, but what's your oil setup on that merc? I have the '89 Black Max 150, which looks pretty similar. My dad ad I just removed the oil injection system as I decided to mix instead. I was just curious if you're using the original oil injection system, if there was a newer one installed or if it's gone and you're mixing.

I'll have to get that 3M compound and give it a try.

The injection system is gone. However if it wasn't it'd be gone soon as I got her. I've lost 2 OMC motors due to bad VRO's and although Mercurys system may not have such a bad rep as OMC I wouldn't chance it. Although I do have a 150 Yamaha on my other boat that is injected and I have just went with that so what do I know. I'm sure they all can go bad just don't hear of the Yamahas going out so often.
