Got out on a 50' Ocean again. Lost a big sword...deja vu...I fought it for 10 minutes, screamer... it came up, twice it turned and ran at us while we were backing on it. By the time we got that big boat moving forward the second time, it was gone. Later when we we're reeling baits up to move, a baby sword followed the big squid bait up from 250'. Came right to the boat circling the bait so we flipped a small squid to him on a 50W & hooked up. At first he stayed right up top & I thought the 50W was just too much but once he got his head down he was impressive! Still got him to the boat in 5 minutes and released.
No tuna while chunking. Got a yft on the troll early next morning. Gaff pulled through him when I lifted, he screamed off 100 yds and we eventually lost him. Caught bunch of mahi to save the trip. Notice the lights in the background of the sword pic...not land...thats 100 boats, 100 miles out...

The only good thought about losing a big fish is that you are in the action and the opportunity to get another one. The weather was the best I seen for four or five days plus the bite was on!! along with the hundred boats.
Always wondered how many of those boats scored.Beautiful boat and ride you have their. That is the best way to fish the Jersey canyons.
