I would think if you mounted it correctly it would be ok. Heavy bolts and maybe some type of large mounting pad and backing plate to distribute the weight. I can't imagine a 20 weighing a whole lot more than a 15, but depends on the model for sure.

Well, a couple questions and a few comments.
Is it a 2 or 4 stroke? (Different weights). Where are you going to use it? What kind of water conditions? A comment. Since the engine is not enough to get your boat up on plane, then the larger you go, (hp) the more resistance you will encounter. In effect, your hull will act like a displacement hull, and your bow wave (and resistance) will increase with ever knot of speed you try to increase. So a larger engine will reach a point where the resistance of the bow wave is the same as the extra hp from the engine. In other words you'll see no or very little increase in speed. A bigger engine is not necessarily the proper choice. That's why I asked about what kind of water conditions you'll be using it in. Still water like a lake is much different than a swift current in a river or wave action in the ocean. In the last two, a larger engine will help out because of the increased external pressures placed upon your boat by the waves, wind, current, etc. Personally, I use a 9.9 hp engine. It's perfect for moving the boat thru the water for trolling, and it's still large enough to use as a get home engine should the main crap out.

keep in mind that 4 mph with a 20 will use quite a bit more fuel than 4 mph with a smaller kicker.

Very good point SMOKE . concidering I will have to carry a pre mix fuel tank , and find a place to mount it , I think I would be better to find a 9.9 4 stroke YAMAHA to draw of my 60 gallon belly tank which uses the same fuel line conector. But with a easy steer it would work I guess

Now, as to the kicker engine itself, I have a 9.8 Merc 2 stroke on the V20, and an older 9.9 Honda 4 stroke on the V21. The slight extra weight of the Honda really isn't a problem, especially since I moved the battery forward. I liked the idea that I could run both engines on straight gas, since I use an electric VRO pump on my main engine (Merc 200), and on the V20 I use premix on both my main engine (Johnson 200) and the Merc 9.8. I guess my point is that it's a lot easier to carry only one type of gas (straight or premix) than to carry separate types for different engines.

I agree DESTROYER 1 tank would be best, any way I went over to my friends shop yesterday to check out the EVINRUDE 20 hp. We ran a comp. check on them motor , 150 , 153 #'s , spark was also great and motor runs SWEET !! we droped the lower unit and replaced the impeller and changed the gear oil, I also found out that the owners father died 6 years ago so the motor was pickeld and put away till last week. The motor is a 1989 with all the controls and comes with a MOOLER 17.5 gallon tank. Well a great running , clean fresh water motor , with all the goodies for $800 was to much for me to pass up so I bought it ! Will rigg it all up before april 15 when the NAUTI BUOY goes in the slip
