I hooked into one that size before on a sharg rig and a PENN 6/0. As soon as he felt the hook he ran straight at the boat, and needless to say I couldn't reel quick enough to keep up with his run. He jumped over the outboard(bracket mounted) and slung the hook at us in the process. He was so big he actually had like a green moss on his back. He was slicing off keeper grouper left and right, and was why I dropped the shark rig down to try and put a stop to it.

they do have a very distinctive odor. the smaller ones are also very good eating.
