Default Georgia suppressor bill moving forward

Yesterday, Senate Bill 93 passed in the Senate Natural Resources and the Environment Committee and now goes to the Senate floor for further action.SB 93, sponsored by Senator Bill Heath (R-31),would allow hunters in Georgia to use lawfully-possessed suppressors (also referred to as silencers) on firearms while hunting.

It has not been approved yet by Georgia.
Different States already allow it in their jurisdiction.

It don't work that way around here.
I simply can't describe the hunting portion as to being on public land.
It's not uncommon for people to get within 100 yards of each other and not know it till they hear each other or a shot is fired.
Pissed off yes but not dangerous.

suppressors aren't that quiet, just brings the noise down to a tollerable level, especially if you are using full load hunting ammo. If you want it to be real quiet, you have to use small bullets, traveling at less than supersonic speed(<1100 ft/sec) it ain't like it is in the movies. there are going to be a lot of happy pig hunters

What he said. LEGAL supressors only bring the sound level down about 20-30 decibels, or quiet enough to fire a shot without needing hearing protection.

I helped explain that point to a guy last week. I'm still not sure if he believed me, another customer and one of the guys running the store.
Like most people he thought a suppressor is a silencer.
Think I lost him trying to explain the speed of sound.

The founder of the company I work for is a 3 time national champion and a (soon to be) (he's being inducted this August) hall of fame trap shooter. Even with wearing hearing protection all the time he's still almost deaf in his right ear and hard of hearing in his left.
