I saw that when I got my WM flier yesterday and all I could do is for the size screen and its capabilities it cannot be beat. It will even run radar I believe?

The 740 is a really nice unit. I bought one this past summer and love the size, detail, and capabilities. And yes, it will accept and display radar.

They are nice but I just dont know how long that touch screen would last on my fishin boat.....it aint exactly got soap dispensers on the T-top.....

I thought the same but when I was considering it, I was fortunate enough to talk to a commercial bass fisherman that had it on his center console for over a year. Not a single problem he told me. Easy to clean and the screen is scratch resistant.

I have the 4010 and decided on the 4000 series because of the fear of touch screen. But CB says it has been fine. You can get them clear plastic screen covers for them also.

Wonder if they will be on sale around tax time? I dont have crap for electronics. I have a GPSMAP172. Its six years old now. A friend has a Garmin 641S he wants to sell me for $400. But it would be nice to have one big screen.

I got word that my old 2006C Garmin bit the dust last year. I bought it new in 2005 with the depth module it was around $2500. Current owner didn't even bother to see why it quit working.. I liked it for the full numeric keypad. The 740 looks like a deal for the price.

Word is the new line will be out in the spring (probably Miami Boat show time in Feb). So I don't think this is as much a sale as it is a price reduction.
