It's all good my friend, not to worry. We all have differing points of view and ways of communicating them.
The main trouble with this whole topic is the passion that it brings forth. From everyone. But it seems to especially hit hard with Veterans.
Often during the course of expressing our views we fail to realize that many either are unaware or uninformed. It frustrates me many times.
Also there are many who are what I refer to as one issue voters, my sister who I love dearly could care less about the demise of our nation and the principles it stands on as long as she gets to vote for who she interprets to be more pro choice.
In her mind no republican can ever be the nominee as she KNOWS they will take away a womans right to choose.
Common sense restrictions or a moderate position does not exist.
So if we go into another Great Depression next year so be it, at least we will have un-restricted abortions for all.
There are many, including some of my dear friends who are life long democrats, they have no concept of the Progressive (aka socialist) movement which has taken over their party.
With the election of a devout socialist and his policies in 2008 many are just now realizing the hard left turn they have brought upon themselves. The ones who are informed and pay attention are at the very least very scared of the future.
In fact, I believe that is the operative word in all these discussions, we are all scared, for ourselves, for our kids. And mostly for our Country.
Sometimes that brings out the "My back is against the wall" attitude.
That is the effect of divisive leadership. What we have now.
I believe in my heart that this November the American People will stand tall and do the right thing. The Great Divider will be out of office, and we will rise like a Phoenix.

You need to understand though that my fears are not for what has been done in the past 3 1/2 years. My fears are for the future. I don't look at it as making a threat. I look at it as a fairly intelligent PROMISE of what will happen to our Country if we re-elect him. He's laid most all of the groundwork allready in his first team. If he gets re-elected, and doesn't have to worry about the chores of being re-elected, he can (and will) devote all of his time to implementing (through executive orders, czars and unelected departments) his ideas for "fundmentally transforming America". He will turn us into a Marxist state. I, for one, don't want to live in a Marxist state. I fought in Vietnam. I saw first hand what communism is all about. I saw the bodies.

Many people don't know what Marxism is, so here, according to Webster, is a short defination: Marxism is the political, economic, and social principles and policies advocated by Marx; especially : a theory and practice of socialism including the labor theory of value, dialectical materialism, the class struggle, and dictatorship of the proletariat until the establishment of a classless society.

Did you catch that line about dictatorship of the proletariat? (We, the people, are the proletariat). See, the problem with that is that establishment of a classless society never happens. There will always be classes. The elite will always think they are better than us, that they should be at the top, with the best of everything and thinking that it's the job of the rest of us to supply it to them. If we don't, if we speak out against them, they kill us. They rule by fear That's what has happened in every dictatorship throughout history, without exception, and it will happen here also. So yes, the future scares the sh!t out of me. If you think that makes me look like a kook, then I wear that mantle with honor and pride.

I'm not a bigot, and I've never made or read a bigotted remark here about any supporter that I'm aware of, so I'm not sure where that came from. Perhaps you can give me an example?

I make these posts because I view myself as a patriot. A man that deeply loves his Country and the freedoms it stands for. I don't make them to let off steam. I make them to try and let others see what has been happening to their Country and why it has been happening. Hell, it's never going to be reported in the mainstream press, so unless people like me make these types of posts a large segment of the population will never know what's about to befall them until it's too late. I'm not a great orator, nor really good with words like Willy, so you'll have to forgive me for being long-winded. But you need to understand that I'm trying to be as persuasive as is humanly possible. Don't criticise my words, listen to the thoughts behind them.

This wasn't directed at you. Sorry you took it that way. It was just a reaction after reading the entire thread. I'm not trying to stop anyone from expressing their opinions... just wanted to suggest how it can be perceived. There are several guys who post here with a left-lean, that don't necessarily like Obama. The most productive posts would help educate them, but for them to listen, they first have to respect your opinion... then they may begin to consider changing their minds. I have read a lot of good material from the likes of you and Willy and others. BTW, go back and read post #16 for an example of a bigoted remark.

Ya, I gotta agree that it could be looked at that way. I didn't. I took it to be a quote, like a slogan blacks say to blacks, something the black community was saying to other members of the black community. One only has to listen to most any black comic on the comic network on tv to hear the "n" word used constantly to refer to other blacks. It's almost like a badge of honor to them to call each other that word. It disgusts me, because I think they unwillingly help promote the very racism that they claim to abhore.

I personally think the use of ht n word has been way over persecuted, I've been called far worse, by those that are offended by the n word, and by far worse people. It seems that the use of this word is now certain persecution of bigotry acts. Its just a freekin word. there's not a single word with reference to any other race that brings the distinction or ridicule that word does. In the words of some one much wiser than my self, "sticks and stone may break my bones, but words will never hurt me". A large percentage of this country's population needs to read that and start concentration on far more important matters.

Today you are not voting for this or that candidate...the candidate is just the front-man for what ever special interest is filling his pocket...Romney is eyeing the presidency just like he did a potential company to buy when he was at Bain Cap...what's in it for ME?...how am I gonna PROFIT from this?...you can bet the farm if the answer to both questions was ZERO, he never would have stepped up to the plate...Mitt Romney a public servant looking out for the best interests of this country?...you may as well discuss Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny...

But I'm gonna vote for him only because I'm voting AGAINST incumbents these days...and this incumbent's special interest backers have had their swing at the ball and one swing is all anybody should get...

Until we get big money out of politics, reform our campaign laws and send the lobbyists packing, it doesn't matter who's in office, because they do not represent us anyway...but until then, we should NEVER allow a front-man's backers access to the powers of office more than ONE TERM.

I can't say what it's like in private sector unions because I have no experience with them.But,In the public sector,specifically the fire service, we often have a new boss every 4 years and many times those new bosses have an agenda that could be detrimental to our jobs security and safety wise.I've seen far too many instances where a new mayor THINKS he/she knows more about the job then those who have been in it for decades.The protection we get from our union isn't what alot of people think it is.If for instance a new boss tries to implement a policy that is either dangerous or against the law or a contract, the union officers will contact the person and try to talk the situation through so an understanding is hopefully reached.this is how the vast majority of our rare problems get solved.If a solution can't be reached immediately then the grievance process can begin.
When it comes to job security there is a set layoff procedure that is followed.When it comes to layoffs we have no real sayso whatsoever.All we can do at that point is to point out NFPA guidelines that deal with manning and hope they are taken seriously.

As far as who to vote for I say people should educate themselves about the candidates and make their own decision.
But,I thoroughly agree with awthacker about making bigoted remarks.
