E-15...Wanna Fight?
Here we go again...a whole new round of engine problems stuffed down our throats by the gov't

More engine problems, lower fuel economy and if anybody says this will keep gasoline prices down, they are lying through their teeth...

More problems for ethanol lobby. http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2011/0...ethanol-lobby/ If the ethanol were made from sugar cane instead of corn (like they do it in Brazil) and IF it still didn't require fossil fuel to make ethanol and IF it didn't tear up all of my lawn equipment and turn to crap just sitting in my boat tank and IF it didn't require subsidy from the guberment and IF it didn't compete with our food supply, it might be a good idea. Bush, Obama, Congress, the EPA and BIG CORN all have one thing in common, none of them mow their own grass. The ivory tower types don't have a clue. Meanwhile the working class man is paying out the arse for carb kits, lawnmower repair, tank cleaning, all sorts of additives. Where is Mercury, Yamaha, Bombardier, Suzuki in the lawsuits? Why aren't they on the top of the list? I am sure that somebody has a database full of warranty claims. Wouldn't they be considered third party? I do not blame the corn growers, the farmers have had a very tough time making a living. One piece of rhetoric that I saw recently from the Corn Lobby, "America has never sent a soldier to fight for ethanol." Really, so all the farm tractors, pumps for irrigation, semi tractors to haul the corn, mining operations for the fertilizer, electricity at the refinery and blending all runs on CORN? I call Pants on Fire, what BS. I guess the memory of the men and women of our military that were dispatched to fight for freedom all over the globe and their families means exactly squat to the lobbyist. It strikes a nerve with me. On a personal note my shoulder will never be right after the last session with my weed eater. Echo makes some good equipment but still does not make a primer ball or a fuel line kit that will hold up to ethanol. The fuel lines are fine, the rubber stopper they go thru that plugs the hole in the tank turns to goo. The EPA has not tested small engines nor considered the ramifications of putting power boaters at risk.

The problem with ethanol (besides ruining engines and lowering mpg) is that they make it out of corn, which is not very efficient. Sugar is the best way to make it, but our government wont allow it.

The statement that really got me was the one where the Renewable Fuels Association (the ethanol producers) said: "The fact remains ethanol is a thoroughly tested, safe, and effective motor fuel. (if you don't mind it disolving some of your engine parts) "The House has denied consumers choice in the type of fuel they use".
Ummmm... excuse me, but when exactly did I get the choice in the type of fuel? Every station carries E10 gas only... I'd love to only buy straight gas, but it's impossible... So there's not much choice now, is there...

For all you V20 brothers in the Savannah area, the Autoplex on Wilmington Island now sells ethanol free 89 octane gas. Price is 50 cents more per gallon than the regular 87 octane. $3.90 today. Autoplex is about a half mile from the boat ramp at the old CO-OP on Turner's creek. Not gonna say that I had anything to do with it, but a couple months ago I went to a few of the gas stations (Autoplex being one) and suggested they dedicate at least one pump to marine gas with so many trailered boats in the area. At the time nobody seemed interested. I told a manager at one of the larger retailers that I drive all the way to the BP on Montgomery Crossroads and jerry can back 30 gallons at a time for my boats and lawn equipment, and that I'd pay a dollar a gallon more for the stuff on Wilmington.
He looked at me like I was crazy. Oh well, maybe I am just a little....

Ridge I had to replace the same fuel line kit with the rubber stopper on a echo hedge trimmer and a blower due to ethanol. Now EVERYTHING that isn't a daily driver gets only non ethanol fuel. I may even spring for it in the trucks now that I can get it without driving across town with jerry cans to get it.
Which brings me to another great product of our wonderful bureaucratic oligarchy: FREAKIN' NON-VENTED GAS CANS!!!!!! Whatever moron came up with that idea I will seriously punch in the nose if presented with the opportunity.

Them non vented cans just about require a funnel Bradford. I just visited three hardware stores on Sat. trying to find the yellow pour spout replacement for a vented can. No Joy. Funny thing, I found an old galvanized metal can on the shelf that had warning labels all over it, it isn't approved for gasoline but that is exactly what it was in a former life. The label on the side says "Iron Sides", with the large fill in the center of the top, I'll call it a vent, and the pour spout has two sizes to pour from. $17.00 The label on the fill said "Utility Can".
IDGAF if the Feds approved it or not, it holds gas just fine. I have a store to buy non-ethanol fuel but they work less hours than my day job and are not open weekends so they are never open when I need them.
