Default First Post... were all new sometimes!

Hi Guys

I was looking recently for a CC in the 17-19' range. Recently a boat was listed in my area on CL. It's a 1990 Wellcraft CC. Power is from a 2S 115 Yammy of the same era.

Am I correct in thinking the Power is a little on the lean side for a 20' boat, much less what no doubt is a heavy 20' boat?

Aside from the typical soft floors, and transom is their anything specific I should be looking for on a 1990 model year?

Ill assume this boat was build with wood stringers, and floor <that I hope was encapsulated on both sided!>.

Great site, oh and if I run into a smaller 18' Wellcraft is it ok to post here about it as well?

Thanks!

Tommy

Welcome aboard....The 115 is on the small side of the curve, but good enough (unless you like flying speed). The 150 seems to be the most popular on the V20. I am sure others here will chime in also...

Absolutely!!! And welcome to the site!! As Cam said, the 115 is a little small for the V20, but still in it's range.. It should get you up on plane nicely, depending on your load and sea conditions.

Several here have 18s...great boats and very much like the V20...

The 115 will be OK as long as you don't overload...extra weight will catch up w/a lack of power really quick...like said above, 150 is a better choice on a V20...seatrial the boat if you can and see for yourself...take two BIG GUYS w/you...

Hi Tommy, Welcome to the site.

Just curious if the CC was referring to Center Console or Cuddy Cabin?

And no we won't kick you out if you get a 18 footer. (there's a few here that no longer even own a wellcraft boat).

That's right. Even the owner of the site no longer has a V20. It's just a great place to hang out.
Welcome and good luck.
