Default Trim adjustment on outboard

Guys, I have a question about which direction to turn the little trim tab on my outboard to counteract the torque of the prop. the boat really pulls to port when I hit the throttle. right now it is turned slightly towards the starboard side. I know I can do it by trial and error, but figured someone could save me some time. Thanks

They normally pull Starboard side, the torque tab should be to the Starboard side. It essentially steers the back of the lower to the port side ever so slightly while underway. I have been running for so long with no feed back or hydraulic I nearly forgot. Set the tab so that the boat steering is neutral at normal motor trim and speed.

Get a no feedback when the system goes out and you wont regret it. Mine wore me out over a days fishing fighting it and now it practically drives itself. I know you can make small adjustments with the tab but dont know that you will even come close to eliminating it with that alone.

This is the normal position to equalize the torque.

I agree tsubaki, you sure know ho wto brighten up a thread!

I would worry less about torque in the hole shot than at speeds you normally run, then it should be set so you can let go of the wheel if you want.

Right now I have a flush trim tab, never thought it would work, told my boat guy that , he said try it.

Dang if he wasn't right.

Take your time & get it right it makes the ride nicer & safer.
