Now I figured out that hi-revin' spin-up yours did at the ramp...she sensed all the xtra HP all around her and felt the need to exercise some high RPMs...you know motors are sensitive that way...little known fact...saw it on Discovery Channel...I don't think anybody else saw it...

yeah old sponge bob can get up and go when called upon. Best I've seen is 44kt. It truly is a frankenstein motor. It is a 1990 225 powerhead bolted to a 1987 150 midsection and a 150 lower unit. Sorry it took so long to respond. Ive been so busy I barely have time to fart.

Did you have to change out the gearing in the 150 lower to accomodate the 225 powerhead?... Take time to fart...nothing worse than an OLD fart...

what Ferm said. Its all interchangeable. I think gear ratios would be different from 150 to 225 but I don't care. It comes out of the hole like a slingshot and the top end is good too. I wanted to go with a 3.1L 225 but I had the mid/lower laying around. So I just found a fully dressed 225 2.6L on Ebay that needed a rebuild. I replaced the crank and 1 piston and con rod and tossed it on my mid. Almost 200 hours on it and so far so good.
oh yeah.......FART......finally I gave myself the rest of the day off. the heck with everyone I need to mow my lawn
