My very first car (a 58' Dodge) had a 318 in it.. Ditto with my 85 Ramcharger. Every company has had their one "go to" engine... for Chrysler, it was the 318.. simple, rugged, easy to work on.. Actually, I'd be hard pressed to think of another engine that's been around as long as the 318.
There have been other great engines through the years.. 283 , 289, 351 and of course the 409 all come to my mind in a rush... I really miss the engines that you could actually work on yourself without having a degree from Harvard.. Yes, I know that (most of) todays engines are better, last longer and produce higher hp with less emissions than the old engines, but still.....(voice trails off into the distance as I get lost in thought) <sigh>

destroyer, dont forget the 225 slant six and the ford 300 straight six. two motors that would not die.
reel, its got the 3.9l V6. shes got a decent little amount of torque and should tow just fine. now i just need to find something to tow with it.
and yes, it'll haul a whole bed full of whoopa$$ up north.
after this weekend, i'm going back to working 7 days. i took a little break due to some non-life threatening but fairly serious health issues. gotta get caught up on some of these bills.
dont know if i mentioned but a guy who retired from the railroad has an old grady white i/o for sale. its a 20 or 21 and i think he just wants it gone. its under a tarp but what little i can see of it looks clean as sh!t. if i can find a cheap trailer i may have to go for it.
