I've always considered my V to be a pretty dry ride under most conditions, but a few weeks
ago while entering barnegat inlet from the ocean, running with the waves under rough conditions, I ran over the top of one wave, and stuffed the bow into the back of the next wave in front of me sending a sheet of water over the windshield drenching everyone on board. It was an intense moment, but I did not feel out of control or in danger. It was just one of those querky things that can happen. But in the future, I'm going to slow down a little under those conditions.

When I was on the USCG Tamoroa, a 210 foot "sea tug", I do remember sea's that caused the bow to go under water. Pretty cool to watch from the flying bridge (I was just a seaman on watch) Yea, if there was anyone on deck, being wet would be the least of their problems... I still stand by my comments. My experience is that the V20's send so much water up and away that the water too easily catches the wind and sprays right back at you. Perhaps I just catch this wind\wave combination more than others. rkc

RoadKingCole, in theory I agree with you .. but again, like I said before, in the right conditions I think any boat or ship will get very wet very cquickly. (and yes, it's really a cool thing to be standing on the bridge and watch the bow plow into a huge wave and disappear, feel the entire ship shudder from the force of tons of water being displaced in seconds, and then to see the bow suddenly come up from under the water like a submarine, shaking off the water in a huge wall of spray.. totally beautiful)
When I lived in Toms River in the 70's I used to fish Barnaget all the time... Saw more than a few half submerged boats (hulls) being towed to the coast guard station. Ever since they put in the North Jetty in it's caused more problems than it fixed.. They were supposed to realign the South Jetty to cut down or eliminate the shoaling but I'm not sure if they ever did it. It's a nasty inlet though. Personally I'm glad I don't have to go through it anymore..
