Default New guy here...first post. Whatdya think about this boat?

The V20 is on my short list and I found one not too terribly far from me. It seems like it could be a great deal or a huge headache. What do you guys think?

Welcome to the site....they always look better in pics than in person but it does look pretty clean. Not wanting to "dewinterize" is pure horse s**t though. Its and outboard for god's sake. spray a little fogging oil in it if your so concerned. If its not far go check it out and check it structurally. If you think you want to buy it, show up with the cash in hand...bring a fresh battery and a compression tester. If it starts and compression is decent he gets the money.

Hell, I'll add to that.. bring a small (3 gal) gas can with OMC fittings, some 2 cycle oil in case the VRO is disconnected and a set of engine muffs. Start that puppy up. If he doesn't start it he doesn't get the money. Simple as that. I totally agree with RWilson...Dewinterized engines are easy to rewinterize.. spray some fogging oil in the spark plug holes...done. On the upside it does look like a nice boat... test the transom with your favorite hard handled screwdriver, tapping it all over with the hilt... a solid thunk is what you want.. a hollow sound means either plan on fixing it or keep looking for a boat.

you ought to see peoples expresions when I pull up my work van to check out a boat for sale, especially if I leave the "Quality Marine Service" signs on the side. They tend to start back peddling quick

Looks good, check it out. I wouldnt give him close to asking price if he won't let you run it. Could be a steal with 1500 in hand.

Welcome.
Hard to tell from the pics, but it almost looks as though there's an aluminum plate on the transom. Check it out well.

Good eye. I'm not sure what that is.

Show up with cash in hand and have him start it. I would not buy a boat without hearing it run.
