Default advice needed

New to site. been shopping around for a good deal on a V-20 or V-21. My question is what is the best way to convince your wife that buying a 20+ year old boat is a good idea? Don't tell me that no one went through this. thanks for any advice.

It'll be a little more exciting if you try to convince her that your "purchased" V20 was a good idea.

There's a saying "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission".

Good luck, let us know how you make out!

Show her how much you can get a really great boat that will last another 20 years for vs. cost of a new boat which will not last as long. She might even let you get a brand new motor for the old boat!

Price a new Dusky 203, it's the same hull. Subtract the price of a V20 you're interested in and tell her how much money you'll be saving.

Don't say nothin and just park it in your neighbors driveway and comment on what a nice boat it is. If she agrees it is a nice boat and yall say we should get one like it then take her out for a real nice dinner, wine and dine her(maybe get her drunk, just sayin),make it a great evening together then during the night move it to your yard. Morning rolls around then surprise,It's ours! If'n that fails then say just kiddin honey and get rid of it before the check clears.

Truthfully, I told my wife I was going to buy it...Told her that I was tired of buying boats to "fix up" at a cheap price and never getting to actually enjoy them. Then I did a LOT of shopping, finally saw one that I liked, for the right price, and bought it. She said that she agreed with me that it was better to get one that was working. Also, this was my second V20, I had had one about 20 years ago and she loved it, so it was easier when she heard that it was the same style boat. Plus (God love her) she loves me, so she wanted me to be happy. (Which is why I love her)

Excellent suggestion!

Tell her that the reason there are so many V-20s still in use is because they were well built. With proper care, they should last a lifetime.

Other than the engine.

And the fuel tank.
