Default Pulling the top cap

My floors are soft and quite rotten. I want to do ther repair right, and I would like to seperate the top from the bottom half. This is a center console, so I don't think it'll be too much project for me. I have been looking for about a half an hour on here and can't find any threads where anyone has seperated the 2 halves of the boat. Can someone point me in the right direction to a thread that covers a CC resto?

Thanks!!

Rob

Default pulling the top off...

Hi Rob....I am looking to buy a v20 fish (center console) that will need the liner remmoved flipped over and rotten core replaced. don't want to just cut the floor out not sure the integrity of the boat would ever be the same in rough seas . You are talking about removing the liner too right? the CC I'm looking at is a 1977 and is three parts Hull, deck and liner there are pictures of one on here (77') with the deck cap off but not the liner...if you find one on the web with the liner out please let me know because that's what buying my project hinges on.....kind regards,Mike

Not sure of your year. 1975 may be a three piece hull but the 1980's were a one piece. Pull the rub rail to expose all the screws and silicone that hold the two together. Once you remove the fuel hose, deck hatches, wiring and console you can start prying the liner from the top of the stringers, it was held in place with bonding putty on my 1983. I made some wood wedges to drive in between the liner and top of the stringers. Once I got it going I used the mechanical advantage of two forklifts to hoist the liner free of the hull. It wasn't nearly as difficult as putting it all back together. Let us know how it goes.
