Unhappy shift rod

I am in central nj and need to get a shift rod put in a boat that I'm interested in buying.......can someone give me an idea on a place to call for an estamate.......Is it a hard job ??can someone that is a car mechanic do it?????? thanks

You have to pull the powerhead and the difficulty depends on how many of the 6 long metric powerhead bolts snap. I don't remember exactly what the cost was for the parts (If I remember total cost of parts/gaskets was $150'ish including the bronze bushing inside the mid)

I'm in toms river and I would be more than willing to do a shift shaft job for you. It is a labor intensive job that requires a lot of patience not to break any frozen bolts. Once the powerhead is off the rest is easy. If you want pm me and I could give you a ballpark price.
