I was a friend of his brother and sister but I knew Al as he was a fellow builder on long beach island. As this is a reminder to the late season boaters here in the north east the waters cold and ya cant last more that a few min if something happens, btw he had an 18 ft boat not 16.

Very sad Lumber, my condolences to the family.
Definitely a wake up call to anyone who boats & fishes in cold water. I keep a little inflatable boat with a foot pump and two folding oars in my boat. I get laughed at alot when I tell people about it. Yeah, I might not be able to get it pumped up fast enough, or it might not hold all 4 crew members but then again I MIGHT be able to get it pumped up fast enough and if it saves 3 out of 4 that's not too bad. I think its rated for around 450 lbs or so. Even 2 out of 4 is better that 0 for 4. IMO buddy boat in cold water and don't leave site of each other.
