Default Outboard Measurements

Question, is the 25" on the outboards the measurement from the cavitation plate to the point where the motor meets the transom?

Or does this distance measurement vary between manufacturers?

Looking to install the bracket and i'm reading that it goes 1" higher for every 12" of setback but trying to figure out how to mount based on engine dimensions.

goes from plate to the mount on the motor like you say. I did not do the 12" to 1" thing I thought it was going to be to high on the transom. I just went 25 and was always fine.

Cool. Gonna measure it all out tomorrow to see where it will ride on the transom.

most of the people I have talked to that have converted to a bracket say they regret that they mounted the bracket too low. I've seen several that ended up with jackplates on the bracket to get it high enough.

The bracket should be installed same as the motor length. If 25" shaft, mount it at 25" height, then you raise the motor using the motors mounting holes. Every 12" out, you can raise the motor 1". That is one advantage of a bracket, you can run in skinnier water, also the water behind the bracket is "cleaner", so this way you can raise the motor without you prop loosing a bite.
