My old '74 doesn't have scuppers, and I've never owned one that did...but from all I read and hear, the ones w/the ping-pong balls are good ones...but whatever scupper you get will get clogged or gunk build-up on the sealing edge...maintenance is the key to a happy scupper...

I found some that have the balls and are supposed to be easy to clean. I looked again and I don't need through transom. I have a hose running from the drain to the exit holes. Will put them there. Thanks for the confirmation. From what i've heard the ball ones are best too.

i had the ping pong ball scuppers on my Mitchell, they did the job but did not keep all the water out, there was allways some coming back in. After I sold the boat, the guy who bought it from me put the duck bill scuppers on the back, I never talked to him, but suppose they worked better

I have the ping pong ball scuppers and they work fine. They will let a little water in but not much at all. I imagine all scuppers tend to let some water in before they close.

We have the ball scuppers on the 74 , just drifting with some swells and they let the water out just as fast as they let it in. They work fine and easy to clean back the screws out a hair and they come right off.
