yea its a real mutt motor. I had a fully dressed 225 powerhead that I rebuilt. I then dropped it on a 150 that was missing a powerhead. Everything bolted right up! Even the serial number on the clamp bracket is for the 150

That's ok, I have a 1986 150 yamaha hiding under an 86 225 V6 special cowling. maybe we should keep our respective cowlings and trade motor for sake of accuracy!

Building a Vortec V-6 for the old V-20 now. BHP was 190 but we'll see after all the machine work is done.
My goal is to pass some friends running '31 Cape Horns!

Original 470 Mecruiser seems to be plenty of power for me.

I have read threads were guys are posting speeds of up to 45 mph. I have a 93 Yahmaha 150, original motor with boat. Under good conditions what do you think a reasonable top speed is? It seems to cruise nice at about 27 mph at 4500 rpm.
