Default Make A Wish

My daughter, Kendall, has been accepted by Make A Wish Foundation to grant her a wish. They asked her what she would like to do? She responded by saying she wanted to drive a train that had smoke coming out of it. we figured we would go to Tweetsie Railroad or the Smoky Mountain Rail Road up in North Carolina, but both of those are closed down for the season. So we were surprised when they told us they were sending the family to Strasburg Pa to the Strasburg Rail Road Station to ride in a steam locomotive. We fly out Friday morning, come back home Monday afternoon. Looks like an interesting time, especially since the weather is forcasting snow, it ought to be quite an adventure for the girls(they have never been in snow). Any of ya'll been there? Anyone know anything about it? They have a complete itenerary planed for us, but it never hurts to hear from someone who has been there. I will take lots of pictures(maybe one of them will win me a T-shirt next contest) and post them here

Absolutely a great trip.
I go there several times a year, it is less than an hour from my house.
Not only is there a steam train, but lot's of shops for all.
They even have an extensive train museum.

Also, for the women folk, the Lancaster outlet complex is 10 minutes from Strasburg.
More shopping than you can handle.

Lancaster county is one of me and my wifes favorite places to go for Sunday drives.
Yes you will get to see real Amish and old order Mennonites in their buggies.
If you saw the movie Witness, it was filmed in and around Strasburg,
I still have not found the farm yet, but I am still looking.

I didn't see any snow in our forecast, but yes, dress warm, highs during the day
around 39, lows around 25.

I wish I could meet you there, but I have to get ready for Christmas early,
cause Monday I leave to spend a week in Argentina.

Thats awsome SP. I went there when I was a kid, and again a few years ago with my kids. You will have a great time.

Be sure to visit the train museum accross the street from there.

Oh, and get some "Shoe Fly" Pie.

parishht, keep me current on the weather up there, the forcast I was looking at said there was a chance of snow on Sunday, I need to know the real forcast, one from a fisherman, not a weatherman. I've gotten spoiled since I moved to Charleston, I'm not used to cold weather any more

In preparation for the trip and to get accustomed to the cold, go to work tomorrow only in your boxers...not only will it toughen you against the northern cold of PA, but will create many conversational opportunities you can use to gain even more valuable information about Strasburg and surrounding areas

Ya'll have fun on your trip!!...we wanna see many pictures...

Spare, I almost forgot,
my wife goes to this pottery shop and buys a lot of Christmas gifts.
They sell seconds in the shop that you may not even know they are seconds
and they have good prices.
The shop is not far at all from the railroad.
