Default Low RPMs

I hate to say it but my 200 Yamaha is only turning 4300 rpms. Thought I would go for a quick blast this mornin befroe work, she got right up to 5400 rpms. Turned the boat around to head back in and wouldn't go over 4300.

I did not have a time to tinker with it, but I am going to check fuel first. Seperator and filter under engine cover. Hope that's it.

This is such a common thing now a days! All different makes? Agree start with fuel and work your way around?

Good Luck

What type of yamaha? If the fuel system checks good, and you have an O2 sensor, it may need cleaning.

Thanks for the input. Gotta be honest, I do not know much about outboards, so I do not know what I have for sensors. But I am not afraid to rip into anything either, the problem is usually putting things back together.

Hoping it is just fouled gas then I will go from there. Haven't even gotten a chance to go play with it. Love my kids to death, but they do cut down on boat time.
The engine is an '99 200 Yamaha with carbs.

Check your fuel water seperator first, then drain your carbs float bowls and look for water or sediment. Next pull your plugs and see if they all look the same.
