hey guys I am getting ready to pull my tank like we talked about and i took the floor covers off. i found the plate on the tank and it reads gallons=46 :o. I thought they were bigger...what is the deal???? Im the only chump with a v20 and no 60 gallon tank.....Will i have enough range??I was hoping to be able to take this boat out 40 or 50 miles...that might be out of the question now huh???

Thats about 120 mile range, give or take?? Most all V20's with built in tanks are 60? I don't no what to tell you?
What year was that? Maybe you can get a 60gal to fit right in there? same width but longer? I have 2, 20gal tanks thats only 40!! But when I removed the I/O, I was able to put a 25 gal in were the motor was. Now I have 65 gal! But I went years on 40 gal with out any real problems. I went to Nantucket which is 25 miles one way and then stoped to fish some inshore areas on the way back, and I was ok.

If you're going to go long distances make sure that you install a fuel flow meter, a kicker (or travel with friends boat) and carry extra fuel in 6 gallon jugs.
Jeff from Guam takes his boat long distances and carries extra fuel. http://www.wellcraftv20.com/gallery/...umName=album11 http://www.wellcraftv20.com/cgi-bin/...9677;start=4#4

Thanks guys...mine is the 79 so it is the exact one in the 78 pic....I gues ill live. I have carried extra fuel in my other boats before,so im used to it, I was just looking forward to not haveing to do it. I will usually be within 20 miles or so on most trips though,so i will only need the xtra fuel occasially. Oh I am DEFINITELY going with a kicker...the boat im running now doesnt have one and i am a nervous wreck everytime I go out. :(
BTW- the weather is nice here and it sure is great to be out there working on my baby again...she has felt so neglected. 73 degrees and sunny ;D

Hate to hijack the thread, but where the heck has Jeff been? Haven't heard anything from him in quite some time. ??? I enjoyed reading his South Pacific episodes.

WOW I took a look in West marine and a 55 in there is about 350.00. I might have to stick with mine...unless i can find a used v20 hull, but Im not having good luck with that cause im wanting the port windshield off of one already and i cant find one. :P
