i have 740 pounds hanging off the back of my boat and the boat can handle it but, and i mean but, do not do it if you dont have trim tabs. then it will ride horribly. i wish i had twins on mine. in a perfect world and you were going with twins. dual e-tec 90's would be freaking sweet.

Well i called the guy at the dealer today and this time he let me talk to a tech. sure enough, there 25" shafts lke i thought. he also told me that you cant make one reversed rotation so my option to run duals wont work. the good news is, that if i just wanted 1, it would bolt right up. im just not sure if i want only 115hp. i have found some 175s and 200s pretty cheap but there all used. i would really like to run a brand new motor with this boat since i plan on putting alot of hours on it once its done. what would be the best deal on a brand new 175. or better yet twin 90s like cterrebonne was talking about?

on those 115's you were looking at, you dont necesarilly need to run a counter and the std lower unit if you have a seastar hyd steering. i know for sure BRP doesnt make a counter in a 90 hp. we installed twin 90 etecs on a caroline dlx 24 and it ran very well and the steering torque wasnt noticeable. but like youre saying they are 25" legs and you would have to make you a 30" transom. im thinking if you didnt mind the headache of building the transom up i would run the twin 115's and keep a spare prop in the boat in a large blade 15" pitch. that way if you blow one up you can swap the prop and get back in on plane with out stressing the engine. it looks like a win win with twins. more transom height. more power, and more safety. plus twins are cool.

The original twin 70s on my uncles' V20 were both standard rotation. Not sure if the 140s on it now are counter or not. I don't think I've seen any pictures of V20s with twins on this forum.

Yes. It's a couple hundred miles from me under a barn hooked to an F350 as it has been for about 3 years now. I've been in negotiations for it for a few months but it's kind of hard to buy anything when 4 guys without much need for the money own it. I'll eventually get a picture. Its just a 70s center console with orange stripe and 2 black motors hanging on the back.
