MJ, I have been digging around also and the ones for inboards appear to end in 02 ie 12R-RAC-02 vs 120R-RAC-01.....the difference appears to be only the clear bowl on 01 is not approved for inboards by the CG...02 has a metal bowl. Here is a link to a tech manual. http://www.a-filter.se/files/racor_products.pdf My question is about the maximum gph.....the manual says the 120R is for "smaller" gasoline engines up to 30 gph. There is also a guy selling a couple of bigger ones on Ebay if anyone is interested.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RACOR...spagenameZWDVW

those are a bit small for big v6 OB. I just use the standard Mercury/Sierra/GLM/Yamaha/AquaPower type filter head, then use the Racor element on it. Those filter heads will handle just aboout anything you hook to it.Right now the Yamaha factory filter is specced at 10 microns, and its atleast 10" long

if teh restriction is of concern, plumb in a vacum guage(Racor makes them but they are $95) and see how much they pull. Most of the engine manufactures recomend no more than 2"HG, but most of them end up around 5"HG

If you're burning more than 30 gph with your single outboard motor, chances are you're not buying your filters from some guy on ebay.

I got mine a couple days ago.....it is a bit smaller than I thought. I was thinking of leaving my current filter and adding this after it as a secondary filter. The current one is a standard screw on type filter.....will this be OK?

I thought the same thing smaller then I thought. There is no problem leaving two inline.
I might do the same to see if it can handle the fuel consumption?? Fir this it has to be after the other filter. If all works out well I will lose the other and stay with the new one.
