Default Trim gauge on tach problem

I put in a new Yamaha Tach and everything works, but the trim. On the trim display the bars slowly go up and then the top bar blinks, all the time, when the engine is up or down it just sits at the top blinking. Everything is wired up right. Any ideas???? Thanks in advance.

is the little thing that goes up and down with the motor moving free?? is the spring still good?? That was always gumming up on mine and I gave up, I knew when it was up or down!

Could be a bad senor on the trigger thing going up down down??
